Munro Academy is a growing independent non-profit day school offering positively life changing Christian education for Pre-Primary to Grade 12 Students; Munro Academy Early Learning Centre is a fully licensed Christian daycare providing quality care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

Summary
The PT Bookkeeper demonstrates professional excellence in providing bookkeeping services for  Munro Academy/MAELC. PT Bookkeeper is an important part of the Munro team, works closely with the Executive Administrative Assistant and the MAELC Assistant Director at the NS (Sydney Mines) Campus, is responsible to the Head of School and is hired by the Head of School and Board. 

Responsibilities
  • Provide timely, accurate, scrupulously honest bookkeeping services for Munro Academy’s various ministries using Quickbooks (online), spreadsheets, etc..
  • Work closely with Executive Administrative Assistant, MAELC Assistant Director and others (as directed by the Head of School) to maintain accurate financial records, managing of accounts receivables and payables, and carry out all other bookkeeping responsibilities required.
  • Support ongoing liaison work connected to Munro (generally led by others within Munro), including financial segments of grant applications, donation campaigns, donation tax receipts, required government returns, etc.
  • Complete regular bank reconciliations. Generate regular reports for Head of School, Board, etc. and provide analysis of trends, concerns, opportunities, etc. 

Qualifications
 The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • Appropriate training/certification to complete all required bookkeeping responsibilities outlined above. 
  • Training and experience using Quickbooks and spreadsheets.
  • Experience with not-for-profit/ministry organizations in the Canadian context is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and within a healthy authority structure.

Compensation:
  • Being an important part of the MA educational ministry
  • Wage: $19-$22/hour (based on education/experience). Munro Academy makes standard salary deductions as per CRA guidelines
  • Bursary covering up to 50% tuition for dependant children accepted into Munro Academy (prorated based on FTE of PT role)
  • Manulife 50/50 copay health/life insurance plan (prorated based on FTE of PT role)
  • Retirement plan of $600/year (paid $50/month) paid by MA (prorated based on FTE of PT role)
